By definition, infrastructure is the underlying connective components that create a framework to support and organize the total structure – most commonly referring to the roads, water supply and utilities for any given community or city. In the IT context, infrastructure serves as fundamental building blocks of hardware and software that allow for technologies to communicate and operate effectively within a high-tech environment.
Infrastructure encompasses a very broad range of technologies. Therefore, it is imperative to have industry specialists in this area to fully understand multiple skill sets and technical expertise in areas such as Networking/Communication, Storage, Security and our newest group, Mobile/Wireless.
Network/Communication:
In the “internet age” telecommunications is becoming integrated into IP technologies. Telecom professionals interested to develop skills in higher layers of the OSI technology stack are welcome to pursue options in datacom, VoIP and other IP-related opportunities.
Storage:
The days of keeping cabinets of full of corporate documents are quickly evolving into “paperless” work environments due to advancements in data storage equipment. Further progress is being made to add value for the enterprise customer’s storage investment based on solutions such as “virtualization”, “information life cycle management”, and “disaster recovery”.
Security:
With an increased spending on corporate systems and networks, it is important for them to protect their investment from outside IT attacks, especially now that business is prominent over the internet. Recently, there has been an influx of cutting-edge technologies which revolve around securing the internal corporate environment. Data compliance, privacy compliance and IT auditing technologies offer IT professionals further growth in the security field.
Mobile & Wireless:
Still our youngest technology group, yet growing rapidly. As the wired infrastructure market is maturing, corporations are interested in “mobility” and availability of communication to reach “the last mile”.
